The present master has professional and academic researcher orientations and its duration is one year (60 ECTS). All students have to do a compulsory module of Advance Training in Chemistry (15 ECTS) and a Master Thesis of 24 ECTS.
Researcher orientation
Students in the academic researcher orientation have to do the Specialized Training module of 15 ECTS and 6 ECTS of the compulsory subject “Initiation to Research”. Specialized Training module offers 4 profiles (Synthetic Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Nanochemistry and New Materials, and Advanced Analytical Techniques) of 5 optional subjects of 3 ECTS each. Students have to choose 5 of them in order to complete the 15 ECTS. Those students, who attend three of the five subjects of some of the mentioned specialty profiles, will obtain a mention of this specialty in their title. The students have to do the subject “Initiation to Research” of 6 ECTS in the same Research Group where they are going to do their Master‘s Thesis.
Professional orientation
Students in the professional orientation have to do the Specialized Training module of 18 ECTS and 3 ECTS of the compulsory subject “Projects Management”. Specialized Training module is called Industrial Chemistry and Economics and it has 7 subjects of 3 ECTS each. Students have to choose 6 of them in order to complete the 18 ECTS. The Master’s Thesis have to do in a Private Company or in a Public Institution.
Chemistry is an important source of employment at both National and European level. It is one of the twelve more demanded degrees by companies. The activity rate of chemical graduates is more that 80%, and there are not long-term unemployed. Job offers are concentrated in the chemical, industrial, hospital, pharmaceutical and public administration sectors. Furthermore, they have the possibility of developing an academic and / or research career.

UDC holds student mobility agreements with universities and other third-level institutions across four continents. Students are offered several opportunities each year to apply to study abroad in one of these centres (for a single term or for a whole year), with the guarantee that all credits obtained will be duly recognised in their academic record upon their return.
For each round of applications, the University publishes the list of exchange options available to students and, where relevant, the specific conditions associated with each. Students may also apply to the University for funding for international work experience placements and internships.
Work experience placements are accredited in the student's academic record and the European diploma supplement. Students are free to decide in which host company or academic institution within the EHEA they wish to carry out their placement. To assist them in their search, the University has created an online noticeboard with jobs postings and other news.
Work-study placements in A Coruña are arranged by the International Relations Office (ORI) of the UDC in collaboration with the international relations coordinators in the student’s home university. The general entry criteria, rights and obligations of students, and admission and acceptance procedures for the programme, are regulated by the UDC Mobility Policy.
