The fundamental objective of the Degree in Biology is for students to acquire the knowledge that a biologist must have in order to achieve professional skills to perform a biologist’s professional role as described in the Statute of the Official Colleges of Biologists, Royal Decree 693 / 1996 (BOE, [Bulletin] 23 May 1996) and Royal Decree 1754 / 1998 (BOE, 7 August 1998).

Biology is a science that, from different perspectives and levels of complexity, seeks to understand life in all its facets. From the study at molecular level to the analysis of ecosystems, all approaches to the study of the vital phenomenon are equally important and necessary for a biologist's training.
The qualification as a Degree graduate in Biology must provide adequate knowledge of morphology, systematics, structure, function and interaction of living beings, as well as the methods of analysis related to them, both from the teaching and research point of view, as well as the use applied of this knowledge.
Those with a qualification in Biology respond to a wide range of socioeconomic and cultural needs of today's society. Biology is a key element for the development of society and for a sustainable economy and knowledge. The dissemination of scientific knowledge is currently linked to the teaching.
