Introduction

The doctoral programme in Agricultural and Forestry Research is a programme marked by multidisciplinarity in terms of qualifications for teaching staff and students, as it involves researchers from three different departments of the University of Santiago de Compostela (Plant Production, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Plant Physiology and Botany) and five research centres. one of them in Germany (ZALF) and four in Galicia (Lourizán Forest Research Centre, Areeiro Phytopathological Station, Mabegondo Agricultural Research Centre and Galician Biological Mission) and three centres of the University of A Coruña (University Institute of Geology, Interdisciplinary Centre for Chemistry and Biology and Faculty of Sciences) which offers students a wide range of topics related to agricultural and forestry production of Galicia and the Atlantic biogeographic region of Europe.

The objective of this program is to train experts trained in agricultural, forestry and agroforestry research. The skills acquired are aimed at improving production and environmental sustainability.

Why study

This doctoral programme is aimed at analysing the basic processes and management of the agricultural and forestry sectors in Galicia, where these sectors are very representative due to the area they occupy and their high productivity.

This topic is addressed in the "Agricultural and Forestry Research" program from different perspectives such as agricultural production, forestry production, agricultural management, forest management, pests and diseases, soil and water conservation and environmental sustainability, among others.

This program provides students with advanced methodological tools for research, both basic and applied. Therefore, researchers and technicians trained in "Agricultural and Forestry Research" will have a solid basis for improving productivity, taking into account economic efficiency while limiting or preventing damage to the environment.

This is an interuniversity study, in addition to University of A Coruña, the following universities also colaborate in teaching:
