The doctoral programme in Language Studies is aimed at those who, with a university degree and a profile in languages and linguistics, wish to face the challenge of writing a thesis. We brought together a group of specialists in Spanish, Galician language and general linguistics to offer an attractive program and a stimulating environment for the realization of the research plan. The research may deal with a topic related to • The description of languages • Applied linguistics in different aspects (lexicography and terminography, teaching and learning of languages or linguistic technologies) • Discourse Analysis and Sociolinguistics • Historical linguistics and linguistic historiography

You will be able to contribute with your research work to advance in the complex answer to these questions and others like them. What are the advantages of the PhD program in Language Studies? We are a team of people with a training capacity demonstrated by the theses we have already directed and those that are now in progress under our responsibility. If you will undoubtedly find a topic of interest to you among the diversity of lines of research that we offer. In addition, the universities of Vigo and A Coruña will provide you with material resources of great interest, particularly with regard to access to sources of information. We also offer the possibility of making stays abroad benefiting from the collaboration we maintain with groups of foreign universities in countries such as Belgium, Brazil, France or Portugal.
