The Bachelor's Degree in Audiovisual Communication aims to provide students with a solid and versatile education that enables them to approach the processes of ideation, production, and dissemination of audiovisual content with a critical, creative, and professional mindset. These processes are directed toward audiences within a constantly evolving and technologically advanced media environment.With the updated curriculum launching in the 2025/26 academic year, the degree takes a further step in adapting its training to the challenges posed by today’s society and, more specifically, by the communication sector.
The program offers students both theoretical and practical training across the various codes and roles involved in professional audiovisual communication, as well as a comprehensive understanding of the production process tailored to different audiences.
In addition, the degree offers two specialization tracks. The Multiplatform Audiovisual Communication track enhances students’ training in the multimedia and transmedia landscape of contemporary content creation. The Interactive and 3D Content track focuses on current trends in interactive audiovisual communication and the integration of real and virtual image content.
The profesional fields of application of this studies cover serveral areas, ranging from Production Design, Audiovisual Consulting, and Manangement or 3D Content Creation to the direction of audiovisual productions involving any kind of media, format and technology. The profesional profiles of the School's graduates include: Producer, Director, Scriptwriter, Technical director, Content Creator. Researcher, Docent and Expert in Visual Communication.

The complex reality of today’s audiovisual landscape calls for professionals who are specifically trained in multiplatform content and 3D production—skills that set them apart from other specialties. Among the sector’s future needs and opportunities is the rise of virtual production using Artificial Intelligence (AI). One of the initiatives in which UDC is involved is the so-called “Cidade das TIC” (City of ICT), which will feature a large-scale virtual set, expected to be the largest ever built in Spain. Construction of this virtual studio is already underway. The implementation of these technologies demands specialized knowledge adapted to new production methods, ranging from 3D content creation to real-time visualization techniques. The professional context is the one of social communication including journalism, advertising, cinematography, television and all kind of digital productions.
Graduates of this degree will be professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the processes involved in the ideation, development, and marketing of audiovisual products in various formats and across different media—including cinema, television, multimedia content, 3D animation, and video games. The training reflects the role of digital platforms, artificial intelligence, new audiences, and online distribution in today’s media landscape.
Some of the potential professional roles include:
1. Director, screenwriter, or audiovisual producer across various media (film, television, advertising, radio, multimedia), with in-depth knowledge of both technical and artistic processes.
2. Audiovisual producer and project manager: A professional who designs, plans, and coordinates human, technical, and budgetary resources for audiovisual production across different formats.
3. Visual and sound post-production designer: An expert in designing all visual, sound, and graphic elements throughout the audiovisual production phases, with experience in digital and interactive environments.
In the academic field, graduates may pursue:
1. Research in new media.
2. Specialisation in the analysis of audiovisual communication phenomena and processes.
3. Policy and economic analysis of the audiovisual sector, both nationally and globally.
4. Teaching in secondary or higher education institutions in subjects related to audiovisual communication, new media, and contemporary media technologies.

To obtain the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication from the University of A Coruña, students must complete a total of 240 ECTS credits, distributed as follows:
• 60 ECTS in Basic Training subjects, compulsory and taught during the first and second academic years.
• 132 ECTS in Compulsory subjects, mostly completed during the second, third, and fourth years.
• 30 ECTS in Elective subjects, scheduled for the third and fourth years. These must include the courses corresponding to the chosen specialisation, as well as complementary subjects such as Internships.
• 18 ECTS assigned to the Final Degree Project, which must reflect the competences acquired throughout the programme and align with the selected specialisation.
The programme offers two specialisation tracks within the degree:
• Multiplatform Audiovisual Communication
• Interactive and 3D Content
To obtain one of these mentions, both the elective courses and the topic of the Final Degree Project must be consistent with the specific objectives of the selected track.
The updated version of the degree will begin to be implemented in the 2025/26 academic year, according to the following schedule:
2025–2026: 1st year
2026–2027: 1st and 2nd years
2027–2028: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years
2028–2029: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years

UDC holds student mobility agreements with universities and other third-level institutions across four continents. Students are offered several opportunities each year to apply to study abroad in one of these centres (for a single term or for a whole year), with the guarantee that all credits obtained will be duly recognised in their academic record upon their return.
For each round of applications, the University publishes the list of exchange options available to students and, where relevant, the specific conditions associated with each. Students may also apply to the University for funding for international work experience placements and internships.
Work experience placements are accredited in the student's academic record and the European diploma supplement. Students are free to decide in which host company or academic institution within the EHEA they wish to carry out their placement. To assist them in their search, the University has created an online noticeboard with jobs postings and other news.
Work-study placements in A Coruña are arranged by the International Relations Office (ORI) of the UDC in collaboration with the international relations coordinators in the student’s home university. The general entry criteria, rights and obligations of students, and admission and acceptance procedures for the programme, are regulated by the UDC Mobility Policy.
