Access

Students who meet some of the criteria listed in Article 4 of the UDC PhD Policies and Regulations will be able to access to UDC PhD programmes.

Applications

Candidates matching one of the general entry requirements for PhD students will be assessed in accordance with the specific criteria and merits for each programme. Information relating to application procedures and requirements are included in the programme structure for each course.

The decision to offer a student a place on a UDC PhD programme is the result of an application-specific evaluation process, and does not affect the academic or professional status of the candidate’s existing qualifications.

Recommended profile of admission

The entry profile to this Doctoral Programme is oriented, as a priority, towards people with a degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, and a degree in Physical Education. For any other profile, the CAPD will study the cases individually and may, taking into account the admission criteria indicated below, establish complementary training if necessary.

Specific access requirements of the CAPD

Letter of reference from a POD professor endorsing the viability of the thesis

It is a mandatory requirement for admission to the doctoral programme that the student has the prior commitment of a professor of the programme to supervise his/her doctoral thesis.

Minimum level of language proficiency

The student must have sufficient language skills in Galician, Spanish or Portuguese, or, failing that, in English. In the latter case, they must officially accredit a level equivalent to B2 to guarantee the correct development of their doctoral studies within the scope of the programme.

Program Admission Criteria

The selection of students for admission to the programme will be made based on the criteria:

- Previous university education indicated in the admission profile: 60 points

- Previous university education different from that of the entry profile: 40 points

- Previous research experience: 10 points

- Knowledge of the English language: 10 points

- Personal interview (or substitute questionnaire or letter of motivation-presentation): 20 points

For its validity, the merits must be justified by supporting documentation.

The same criteria will be applied to admit all students regardless of whether their dedication is full-time or part-time.

Deadlines

The application for admission (or registration renewal) and enrollment in PhD studies will be carried out according to the terms approved by the Governing Council of the UDC.
