Access

Students who meet some of the criteria listed in Article 4 of the UDC PhD Policies and Regulations will be able to access to UDC PhD programmes.

Applications

Candidates matching one of the general entry requirements for PhD students will be assessed in accordance with the specific criteria and merits for each programme. Information relating to application procedures and requirements are included in the programme structure for each course.

The decision to offer a student a place on a UDC PhD programme is the result of an application-specific evaluation process, and does not affect the academic or professional status of the candidate’s existing qualifications.

Recommended profile of admission

The Academic Commission (CAPD) agreed that in order to study the applications, they must meet the following requirements:

  • 1. The application for admission must include a preliminary draft of the thesis endorsed by a doctor, who will be the Thesis Director. (A reference chart can be downloaded here.
  • 2. The director must be part of the doctoral programme. Otherwise, there must be two directors. One of them must be part of the doctoral program.
  • 3. The Directors must prove that they meet the established requirements to be able to supervise theses according to the REDUDC using the established form. If you are already registered as a director at the International Doctoral School, it is not necessary to submit the form, as long as the merits have not expired.

Specific access requirements of the CAPD

Once the documentation has been submitted, the Institutional Coordinators will proceed to a selection of students based on the following criteria:

Note. The Director of the Programme must previously establish with the Institutional Coordinators (Academic Committee) the way of applying the criteria and contents and methods of evaluation of the interview in order to objectively achieve a homogeneous level in the selection of students.

To achieve this, a scoring scale will be determined according to the following criteria and percentages:

- AVERAGE GRADE OF THE ACADEMIC RECORD 40%

- SPECIFIC TRAINING IN THE FIELDS OF NEUROSCIENCES 15%

- RESEARCH MERITS 5%

- KNOWLEDGE OF ENGLISH 20%

- PERSONAL INTERVIEW (ASPECTS TO BE ASSESSED: MOTIVATION, INTEREST, INITIATIVE, ATTITUDE, WILLINGNESS TO LEARN, ORAL EXPRESSION) 20%

Deadlines

The application for admission (or registration renewal) and enrollment in PhD studies will be carried out according to the terms approved by the Governing Council of the UDC.
