Recommended profile of admission
1. The PDIEL, although aimed at graduates of philological degrees (especially in the areas of Hispanic Philology, Galician and Portuguese Philology, Romance Philology, Literary Theory and Comparative Literature and others in the CNEAI 11 field) and, by affinity, of others belonging to the branch of Arts and Humanities (CNEAI 10 field), does not establish any differentiation or priority with respect to the academic origin of the applicants, but requires C1 level knowledge in one of the DP languages (Spanish, Galician or Portuguese).
2. If the applicant comes from any of the master's degrees that include studies of a literary nature, in
In particular of those organised by both the UDC and the UVIGO, admission to the PDIEL can be made without the need for complementary training.
3. When the student comes from other bachelor's or master's degrees in CNEAI fields that do not include literary studies, admission to the Doctorate will entail the completion of training activities that the Academic Committee will establish based on the curriculum and the thesis project presented. A minimum of 9 credits and a maximum of 15 credits will be required in bachelor's or master's degrees in literary studies, particularly those related to literatures in Spanish, Galician and Portuguese, in force at that time at the University of A Coruña or at the University of Vigo, always with the express authorisation of the CAPD (cf. below Admission conditional on the completion of specific complementary training).
Application general procedure
Applications and registration for PhD programmes will be made using the online application system on the UDC website, accompanied by all necessary supporting documents. Applications and registration for external students will be made here.
If you need more information, you can check this sources the Application general procedure.
Specific access requirements of the CAPD
The selection criteria take into account the following aspects, with the percentages assigned:
a) Academic record of a bachelor's degree (50%).
b) Curriculum vitae (30%).
c) Explanatory report of the reasons and objectives that motivate the incorporation into this doctoral programme (20%).
To be admitted to the PDIEL, a minimum percentage of 80% must be reached.
In addition, the CAPD may establish new criteria compatible with those set out here, in order to specify the application of the principles set out, especially with regard to the aspects that can be assessed in the curriculum (second degrees, publications related to the lines of research offered, professional experience, etc.). Likewise, he or she may conduct an interview with the candidates to clarify and properly weigh the merits presented.
Additionally, in order to be admitted to the PDIEL, it is highly recommended to have the endorsement of a PD researcher, who must express his/her availability to assume the functions of tutoring and, preferably, (co)direction. The absence of such a guarantee may constitute, in itself, an exclusion factor. This requirement is unavoidable in the case of interdisciplinary thesis projects that include non-literary areas of knowledge, in order to guarantee co-direction by specialists in these areas.
