2025/2026

Access

Students who meet some of the criteria listed in Article 4 of the UDC PhD Policies and Regulations will be able to access to UDC PhD programmes.

Applications

Candidates matching one of the general entry requirements for PhD students will be assessed in accordance with the specific criteria and merits for each programme. Information relating to application procedures and requirements are included in the programme structure for each course.

The decision to offer a student a place on a UDC PhD programme is the result of an application-specific evaluation process, and does not affect the academic or professional status of the candidate’s existing qualifications.

Recommended profile of admission

The admission profile establishes the knowledge, skills and abilities that the student who wishes to access the PDEIO must possess and, as a consequence, the most suitable access qualifications that determine admission and, where appropriate, the need or not for doctoral students to carry out complementary training.
1. Direct entry profile (without training complements). In general, the Master's degree studies that will allow admission to the PDEIO without complementary training will be those of the Master's Degree in Statistical Techniques, offered jointly by USC, UDC and UVigo. Students with research proficiency or with a DEA degree obtained through previous Doctoral Programmes in Statistics and Operations Research at any of the three participating universities will also have access without complements.
2. Admission profile different from that of the previous section. In the case of students who have completed a Master's degree other than the previous one, the CAPD will evaluate each case individually and will consider the possibility of requiring them to provide complementary training (up to 15 ECTS) when in their previous training they have not taken at least 60 ECTS in subjects related to the lines of research of the PDEIO and belonging to them. either to the area of Statistics and Operations Research, or to the field of knowledge of Mathematics and Statistics. In both cases, these credits must be, according to the judgment of the CAPD, comparable to the Master's level (MECES 3). Finally, in the case of students who have not completed Master's degree studies, an equivalence of training at Master's level (MECES 3) of at least 60 ECTS will be required, preferably in the area of Statistics and Operations Research or in the field of knowledge of Mathematics and Statistics. This equivalence will be determined by the CAPD.
Specific PDEIO access requirements
It is a mandatory requirement for admission to the Doctoral Programme that the candidate must submit a report consisting of a letter of reference from a professor of the Programme that i) endorses the potential viability of the future thesis within the framework of a line of research of the Programme to which it is linked, and that ii) he or she could act as a director in the event that the candidate ends up being admitted to the Programme.

In the event that the number of applications that meet the admission requirements exceeds the number of places, the selection of admitted candidates will be carried out in strict order of score.
The same criteria will be applied to all candidates, regardless of whether their dedication will be full-time or part-time.

Deadlines

The application for admission (or registration renewal) and enrollment in PhD studies will be carried out according to the terms approved by the Governing Council of the UDC.
