The field of study, professional practical research of Labor Relations and Human Resources is a domain of knowledge, recognized by law and by the national and international scientific community of Social and Legal Sciences, which has its essence in its interdisciplinary character. coinciding with the contributions of multiple disciplines such as Law in its various branches of public and business law, Work Psychology, Organizations and Human Resources, Sociology of Organizations, Business Economics, Occupational Health, Risk Prevention and Ergonomics, History of Labor and Union Relations. of Organizations, Statistics, Employment Economics, Political and Administration Sciences, Social and Organizational Research Methodology and, in general, all sciences that are related to the world of work, employment and unemployment.
This interdisciplinary nature means that its researchers and professionals have a distinct identity from professional researchers in the disciplines that inform Labor Relations and Human Resources.

The Official Interuniversity Doctorate Program in Labor Relations and Human Resources, is taught jointly with the Universities of Santiago de Compostela, Oviedo and Zaragoza, and is pioneer in Spanish universities.
The general objective of the program is to provide excellence in training in all areas related to labor relations and human resources in public and private organizations.
The research program will allow the development of high-quality research projects, which represent an advance and a contribution to scientific knowledge and which promote, at the same time, the transfer of knowledge to society and the incorporation of technical research at the highest level in public and private organizations.
This is an interuniversity study, in addition to University of A Coruña, the following universities also colaborate in teaching:
