The PhD Program Lasers, Photonics and Vision is an inter-university program offered jointly with the University of Santiago de Compostela and University of Vigo.
It is designed for advanced training in the field of laser technology, photonics and vision. The ultimate goal is to provide training of scientific excellence for future researchers and professionals in this field, in response to growing demand for skilled photonics scientists and technicians into Spanish and European R&D systems

In socio-political terms, the scientific-technical sector of optical and photonic science and technology is of extreme importance for the great challenges of the twenty-first century. In this sense, the European Union declared Photonics as a Key Enabling Technology (KET), thus recognising its importance in responding to the challenges of current and future society (Photonics21), and also, as stated by the European Commission in its recommendations of the European Researcher's Charter on page 4: "Europe must develop viable and attractive careers in research and technological development". On the other hand, countries such as Japan, the USA, Canada, China, etc., especially value the impact of Optics and Photonics, investing significantly in their development both at the public and private levels.
The programme brings together the human and material resources of the different research groups linked to the areas of Laser, Photonics and Vision. All of them have extensive experience in the academic and research field, reflected in the direction and execution of numerous scientific projects, publications and doctoral theses.
