Civil Engineering is one of the most important sectors of our economy in which multinationals with capital and management cadres from our country are among the most competitive, profitable and technically and technologically advanced companies in the world. This privileged position is due both to the training traditionally provided in the large Engineering Schools and to the permanent commitment of Engineers to research, development and innovation at the highest level. As is well known, large civil engineering projects are extremely complex and have very large budgets, so investment in research in this field has a very high return in terms of profitability and capacity to address more ambitious challenges. Research, development and innovation at the highest level in Civil Engineering are, therefore, priority lines of action at the present time.
