Master in Advanced Research Methods and Social Analysis Innovations

2025/2026 · 60 credits

Introduction

In a context of rapid transformation, the labour market is witnessing a growing demand for professionals capable of analysing social, political, and economic realities, and of applying such knowledge to the design of public policies, business projects, and social services. The Master’s Degree in Advanced Research and Innovation Methods in Social Analysis (MIAS) at the University of A Coruña responds to this emerging demand by offering advanced training in the principal methods and techniques for the collection and analysis of social data.

MIAS aims to train professionals possessing a deep understanding of the foundations and design of social research processes, expert command of data production and analysis techniques, and practical experience in leveraging such analyses to advise companies, public administrations, and third-sector organisations in strategic decision-making. The programme equips students with these specialised and cross-cutting tools, with the objective of enabling them to achieve the highest standards of excellence within the professional fields that define the new labour market, while adding significant value to their work

Why study

This master's degree is aimed at various target audiences:

  • Firstly, at individuals with a degree in the social sciences field who are already integrated into the labor market, not only in Galicia but anywhere in Spain or other countries (especially other European countries or Latin America), thanks to the advantages provided by the planned virtual/online format. This makes it easier to combine with work activities and reduces geographical barriers. It is worth noting that this degree aims to provide students with professional skills applicable both in the field of SMEs – which make up a large percentage of the productive sector – as well as in large companies, non-profit organizations, public administrations, and academic institutions.

  • Secondly, at recent graduates in the social sciences field, not only from Galician universities but also from the rest of Spain and especially other European and Latin American countries. Although certain current degrees within the University System of Galicia (SUG) enable professional activities in the fields of public administration and economic and business management, there is currently no master's degree in Galicia that provides specialized knowledge in social research and data analysis. Consequently, after completing the master's degree, job opportunities multiply.
