PhD in Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Simulation in Engineering and Applied Science

2025/2026

Access

Students who meet some of the criteria listed in Article 4 of the UDC PhD Policies and Regulations will be able to access to UDC PhD programmes.

Applications

Candidates matching one of the general entry requirements for PhD students will be assessed in accordance with the specific criteria and merits for each programme. Information relating to application procedures and requirements are included in the programme structure for each course.

The decision to offer a student a place on a UDC PhD programme is the result of an application-specific evaluation process, and does not affect the academic or professional status of the candidate’s existing qualifications.

See also UDC PhD Policies and Regulations, Article 5: Applications.

7 places offered in academic year 2025/2026

Recommended profile of admission

Admission profile without complementary training: In general, the studies that allow access without complementary training will be the interuniversity master's degree in Mathematical Engineering, taught by the three Galician universities, and the Master's Degree in Industrial Mathematics that has replaced it, taught by the Galician universities together with the Carlos III and the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Also no training complements are required for students with DEA within the former Galician Interuniversity Doctoral Program "Mathematical Methods and Numerical Simulation in Engineering and Applied Sciences" Other profiles: In the case of other access profiles, the CAPD will evaluate each case individually. The possibility of requiring complementary training of subjects of the Master's Degree in Industrial Mathematics will be considered up to a maximum of 15 ECTS. In the case of other profiles who have not completed a master's degree, an equivalence of training in research credits not indifferent to those of the master's degree that gives direct access will be required, i.e. 60 ECTS. Students with foreign qualifications that have not been recognised must also adapt to the conditions established by the universities.

Application general procedure

Applications and registration for PhD programmes will be made using the online application system on the UDC website, accompanied by all necessary supporting documents. Applications and registration for external students will be made here.

Specific access requirements of the CAPD

1. Students who meet the access requirements may apply for admission to the Doctoral Programme, for which a pre-enrolment period will be established. This application will be submitted in accordance with the procedure indicated in each call. 2. At the end of the period, the CAPD will publish a provisional list of admitted students, with their corresponding waiting list, in accordance with the established selection criteria 3. Applicants who are not admitted may submit a complaint within the period and in the manner established in the corresponding notice. Once the period for complaints has elapsed and these have been resolved, the list of admitted students will be sent to the corresponding student management body, in order to be able to formalise the enrolment within the period indicated. If the enrolment is not formalised, the student will lose their rights.

Deadlines

The application for admission (or registration renewal) and enrollment in PhD studies will be carried out according to the terms approved by the Governing Council of the UDC.
