Applications

Candidates matching one of the general entry requirements for PhD students will be assessed in accordance with the specific criteria and merits for each programme. Information relating to application procedures and requirements are included in the programme structure for each course.

The decision to offer a student a place on a UDC PhD programme is the result of an application-specific evaluation process, and does not affect the academic or professional status of the candidate’s existing qualifications.

35 places offered in academic year 2025/2026

Recommended profile of admission

The programme receives applications for admission from various fields of training. In general terms, two different access paths with an almost identical weight can be distinguished. Firstly, those from basic sciences (Master's Programmes in the fields of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Marine Sciences, Environmental Sciences) or health sciences (Medicine, Pharmacy). On the other hand, there are those from engineering training (Industrial, Telecommunications, Mines, Energy, Materials, Roads). This educational diversity has been repeated since the first years of implementation of the Doctorate in Applied Physics, even before the current regulations, which means that the program has had and maintains a high degree of attraction for graduates from various scientific and technological fields, who find in the program the welcome and the material and scientific means to successfully start their research careers through the development of a doctoral thesis.

Application general procedure

Applications and registration for PhD programmes will be made using the online application system on the UDC website, accompanied by all necessary supporting documents. Applications and registration for external students will be made here.
