PhD in Energy and Marine Propulsion

Students who meet some of the criteria listed in Article 4 of the UDC PhD Policies and Regulations will be able to access to UDC PhD programmes.

Candidates matching one of the general entry requirements for PhD students will be assessed in accordance with the specific criteria and merits for each programme. Information relating to application procedures and requirements are included in the programme structure for each course.

The decision to offer a student a place on a UDC PhD programme is the result of an application-specific evaluation process, and does not affect the academic or professional status of the candidate’s existing qualifications.

Recommended profile of admission

Preferential admission will be given to students in possession of official degrees that allow access to the doctorate according to current regulations, in the technological field or with content related to Energy and Marine Propulsion. In particular, the recommended entry profile includes a series of previously acquired competencies such as:

• 1. Regulate, control, diagnose and supervise systems, processes and machines for decision-making in driving and operation.
• 2. Ability to perform tasks of analysis and synthesis of theoretical-practical problems through physical-mathematical foundations.
• 3. Ability to detect needs for improvement in energy systems
• 4. Use the basic tools of information and communication technologies (ICT).

These competencies are included in various official Master's studies in the technological field, such as the Master's Degree in Marine Engineering

Specific access requirements of the CAPD

The application for admission will be made through the student's Virtual Secretary and the supporting documentation will be delivered to the UADI (Departmental and Research Support Unit) of the centre. The Academic Committee will publish the provisional and final lists of admitted students on the doctoral programme website on the UDC studies portal. Complaints to the provisional list will be addressed to the centre's UADI. The application for part-time enrolment, change of enrolment modality and temporary withdrawal from the programme must be submitted to the centre's UADI.

Deadlines

The application for admission (or registration renewal) and enrollment in PhD studies will be carried out according to the terms approved by the Governing Council of the UDC.
