Students who meet some of the criteria listed in Article 4 of the UDC PhD Policies and Regulations will be able to access to UDC PhD programmes.
Candidates matching one of the general entry requirements for PhD students will be assessed in accordance with the specific criteria and merits for each programme. Information relating to application procedures and requirements are included in the programme structure for each course.
The decision to offer a student a place on a UDC PhD programme is the result of an application-specific evaluation process, and does not affect the academic or professional status of the candidate’s existing qualifications.

4 places offered in academic year 2025/2026
The entry profile to this doctoral programme is especially aimed at those who have passed the following qualifications related to Experimental Sciences, Health Sciences or Life Sciences: Graduates in Biotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science and Technology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Veterinary, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Environmental Sciences, Marine Sciences, Chemical or Agricultural Engineering and completed Master's studies in related subjects that can provide sufficient prior training to access doctoral studies in the field of Biotechnology. The CAPD may consider new bachelor's degrees, which do not currently exist in the RUCT and which will be incorporated in the near future, as priority degrees equivalent to those described. In addition, applicants will be required, as a prerequisite, to pass a test (equivalent to or higher than the B1 level of knowledge of the CEFRL), which will be carried out by the CAPD, on understanding scientific‐technical English.

The CAPD will assess applications for admission to the doctoral programme based on the following criteria:
Each application will be evaluated based on the following information, which must accompany the application for admission:
1. Curriculum vitae of the applicant, taking into account the access qualification and previous training (45%).
2. Letter with a declaration of interest on the doctoral programme stating the student's motivations for choosing this doctoral programme and the line(s) of research of interest if admitted to it (20%).
3. Letter of recommendation and commitment to supervision by a researcher assigned to the lines proposed by the student (35%).
4. Optionally, one (or several) personal interviews will be held (online and/or face-to-face). The objective of the interviews is to assess the characteristics of the applicant in terms of the entry profile, as well as the adequacy of their interests to the lines of research of the Groups attached to the doctoral program.
They will be necessary in those cases in which the documentation provided generates doubts in any of the merits alleged or in the event of a tie between several candidates. A minimum score of the first 3 points above 65% is required
In any case, the special educational needs of students derived from disability will be taken into account.
Scale of the Curriculum Vitae of the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme:
The following are established as preferential access profiles:
1. Graduate/Graduate with Master's degrees in topics related to the field of Biotechnology (Grade: Average grade x 1).
2. Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Food Science and Technology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Veterinary, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Environmental Sciences, Marine Sciences and Chemical or Agricultural Engineering with Master's studies in subjects not related to the field of Biotechnology (Grade: Average grade x 0.75).
3. Graduate/Graduate in degrees other than those referred to in sections 1 and 2 with Master's Degree Studies in subjects related to the field of Biotechnology (Grade: Average grade x 0.5).
4. Graduate/Graduate in degrees other than those contemplated in sections 1 and 2 with Master's Degree Studies in subjects not related to the field of Biotechnology (Grade: Average grade x 0.25).
The application for admission (or registration renewal) and enrollment in PhD studies will be carried out according to the terms approved by the Governing Council of the UDC.
