Access

Students who meet some of the criteria listed in Article 4 of the UDC PhD Policies and Regulations will be able to access to UDC PhD programmes.

Applications

Candidates matching one of the general entry requirements for PhD students will be assessed in accordance with the specific criteria and merits for each programme. Information relating to application procedures and requirements are included in the programme structure for each course.

The decision to offer a student a place on a UDC PhD programme is the result of an application-specific evaluation process, and does not affect the academic or professional status of the candidate’s existing qualifications.

Recommended profile of admission

The entry profile establishes the previous training requirements of the students to be admitted to the program.

In general, anyone who is in any of the following situations may be admitted to the programme:·

  • branch of knowledge: Science and engineering and architecture.
  • Field(s) of knowledge: Biology and genetics, biochemistry and biotechnology, agricultural sciences and food technology, environmental sciences and ecology, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, automatic engineering, industrial organisation engineering and navigation engineering, computer and systems engineering, chemical engineering, materials engineering and natural environment engineering, chemistry.
  • Competencies, skills and prior knowledge: ...
  • Entrance qualifications: This doctoral programme is open to university graduates both in the different fields of Natural Sciences (e.g. Environmental Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, etc.) and to those from the various branches of Engineering (e.g. Chemistry, Industrial, Naval Informatics, Agriculture, Forestry, Mining, etc.)
  • Recommended language skills for carrying out these studies: English (B2)
  • not having completed a master's degree, having an equivalent training in research credits or having completed at least 300 ECTS of research training directly related to the programme.
  • have earned the DEA degree in programs similar to this doctoral program.

Cases that do not fit the admission profile will be studied by the CAPD, which may or may not proceed to admission, and establish specific training complements.

Specific access requirements of the CAPD

The application for admission will be made through the student's Virtual Secretary and the supporting documentation will be delivered to the UADI of the Centre.

Once the application period for admission has ended, the Academic Committee will assess the applications and make the proposal of admitted students, with their corresponding list of substitutes, in accordance with the selection criteria established in the programme. The aforementioned proposal will be considered a provisional list of admitted candidates, and will be published on the doctoral programme website on the UDC studies portal.

Complaints to the provisional list will be addressed to the UADI of the Center.

Once the deadline for claims has ended, the CAPD, once they have been analysed, will publish the final list of admitted students on the doctoral programme website on the UDC studies portal.

The application for part-time enrolment, change of enrolment modality and temporary withdrawal from the programme must be submitted to the Centre's UADI.

Deadlines

The application for admission (or registration renewal) and enrollment in PhD studies will be carried out according to the terms approved by the Governing Council of the UDC.
