Degree in Tourism

Introduction

From the 2020-2021 academic year, the Degree in Tourism, which was previously taught in a private affiliated center, has been incorporated as an academic qualification into the academic offer of the University of A Coruña. It is taught at the Faculty of Philology, on the A Coruña campus.

The study program covers both gneral subjects (geography, history, languages, sociology, law, economics ...) as well as knowledge in specific areas of this sector: heritage, tourism resource management, ICT applied to tourism, territorial tourism resources, tourist taxation, accommodation and restaurants, etc.

Graduates in tourism work as tourism operators, in travel agencies, hospitality, tourist information offices, tourism organizations at all levels, rural tourism companies, recreational parks, ski resorts, conventions, spas, tourism marketing , etc.

Why study

The tourism industry plays a crucial role in the generation of employment, wellbeing and wealth not only in Galicia and Spain, but also throughout the world. The Degree in Tourism offers students the chance to acquire transversal and multidisciplinary skills and knowledge, as it covers a wide range of academic areas, including economics, foreign languages, geography and ICTs, as well as sector-specific fields such as travel and transport, the hospitality industry, cultural heritage and tourism resource planning and management. Tourism is an essentially multicultural industry, and students will be provided with the opportunity of obtaining an international vision of an innovative sector immersed in a process of constant change, obtained not only in the classroom, but also through international student mobility programmes and the School’s extensive programme of work placements in private and public institutions and companies in Spain and abroad. This combination guarantees a real insight into the sector that will stand students in good stead for their future careers.
